Since 2001 every two years Aiya volunteers travel to Southeast Asia taking part in the reforestation of mangrove forests. For two weeks they help planting mangrove trees in cooperation with local farmers. This way 17,700 trees were planted in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. The regions mangrove forests were almost completely destroyed by chemical weapons used in the Vietnam War. Nowadays infrastructure projects and growing tourism threaten the forests. In October two teams with a total of 38 Aiya employees flew to Vietnam and participated in the rescue of the mangroves. Again in 2017, Aiya volunteers will start the journey to give back something to nature.
